Wedding music is back! Liz Hendry Wedding Pianist at Brockholes wedding venue, Lancashire

Well what a year the past 12 months has been.  The entire wedding industry has struggled to survive, as has the hospitality sector.  And let’s not forget all the brides and grooms who have had to suffer the anxiety of moving wedding dates multiple times, wondering if their wedding will be allowed or not when the time comes.

Thankfully we at Live Piano have been able to weather this storm and emerge stronger than ever with some new material, new equipment, and a renewed sense of appreciation for our fantastic job.

Nothing shows us that we seem to be emerging from this difficult time more than getting back to playing real weddings.  And what better than playing at a new venue for us, the amazing Brockholes Nature reserve.

Located in the heart of Lancashire just off the M6, amongst 250 acres of nature reserve, Brockholes is  managed by The Wildlife trust for Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside. With fantastic views overlooking the River Ribble, the unique floating village is fully licensed for amazing weddings.

On Saturday Liz Hendry Wedding Pianist, performed for the wedding of Claire and Ben McNally

Liz Hendry set up with her white baby grand piano ready to provide wedding music for a Brockholes wedding

Liz arrived, (early as we always are to avoid any stress or traffic) to be greeted by the lovely staff here, and also Bluebells and Daisies dressing the rooms ready for the arrival of the wedding party.  They had put up a flower arch for the bride and groom to stand under as they make their vows.  Also working hard was Sugar Wishes putting up their cake creation.

Unbeknownst to Liz at the time, our friend and long time industry colleague Kerry Baker (Make Up Artist) was with the bridal party getting them ready to be revealed as the Bride and her Bridesmaids enter the ceremony.  The Bride looked stunning in her dress from David’s Bridal with hair by Olivia Maria Hair.

For the ceremony the happy couple had chosen some very popular wedding ceremony music.  As Claire walked down the aisle, Liz played the Bridal March – but not the one you hear in church (originally by Wagner) rather, a beautiful arrangement by Jonathan Cain.  Then it was the legal bit, and they signed the register to Perfect by Ed Sheeran and Fly me to the moon by Frank Sinatra.  Finally the newly wedded couple left the ceremony together to Liz’s arrangement of Here comes the sun by the Beatles.

Liz then moved her Dutchgrand, white baby grand piano into the bar area to entertain the guests as the Bride and Groom stood for photographs.  The photographer on the day was Sarah Glynn, who we have worked alongside on several occasions at weddings and wedding fayres.  Sarah is a lovely warm character to have at your wedding in any capacity.  But her particular strength is how she puts the wedding guests at ease and this, plus the fun that is being had is always reflected in the official wedding pictures she produces. The perfect photographer to take advantage of the scenery at a Brockholes wedding!

With one more piano move, Liz was back in the ceremony room ready to provide the musical backdrop for the wedding breakfast.  The couple were announced in to the room as Mr and Mrs McNally and at their request Liz played some upbeat music as they made their entrance.  In this case it was Can’t take my eyes off of you by Frankie Valli.

Because of Covid restriction not allowing evening entertainment, Liz provided the music as the couple did their “intimate wedding” first dance.  Liz played It’s all about you by McFly.

Thanks to the Brockholes wedding team!

We want to say a huge thanks to Brockholes for looking after Liz on this wedding day.  We highly recommend that you go and visit Brockholes, even if you are not getting married. There are beautiful walks, riverside paths, a children’s adventure playground, educational information and of course a lovely cafe (who make a mean breakfast barm!!).  But we think it’s a fantastic place to get married, especially for those who like to be surrounded by nature.  If you fancy a Brockholes wedding check them out on Facebook at Weddings at Brockholes
